1. Contracting Activity:
Network Contracting Office 9 (NCO 9) Department of Veterans Affairs, VISN 9, James H. Quillen VA Medical Center 2237 No. 621-22-1-091-0064
2. Brief Description of Supplies/Services required and the intended use/Estimated Amount:
The James H. Quillen VA Medical Center Dialysis Department has an immediate need for the following Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT) system:
PrisMax V3 US 4 EA $ (Redacted) TherMax US 4 EA $ (Redacted)
PrisMax V2 Warmer Arm Kit 4 EA $ (Redacted) Total: $ (Redacted)
3. Unique characteristics that limit availability to only one source, with the reason no other supplies or services can be used:
The James H. Quillen VA Medical Center is conducting lifecycle replacement of the PrisMax V2 machines; Baxter Healthcare Corporation’s dialysis systems are exclusively used for CRRT at the James H. Quillen VA Medical Center. Clinical staff is trained on the PrisMax machines, and the purchase of the upgraded PrisMax V3 will ensure a seamless transition and continuous standardization of patient care for the Dialysis Department. The Dialysis Department also is stocked on expendable items for PrisMax that can also be used for the PrisMax V3. The Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM), Baxter Healthcare Corporation, produces the most innovative systems in support of Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy.
The PrisMax CRRT is designed for use in Acute Care settings and offers the most available treatments in CRRT mode including SCUF, Pre- and/or post continuous veno-venous hemodialysis (CVVHD), continuous veno-venous hemodiafiltration (CVVHDF), Pre-or post-therapeutic plasma exchange (TPE) and hemoperfusion (HP). The Baxter PrisMax is capable of a fluid balance measurement of 0-8,000 ml/hr. Only Baxter PrismaFlex and PrisMax are proven capable of this volume. In addition to, the Baxter PrisMax anticoagulation features an integrated heparin pump with a rate of 0.5-9.9 continuous or bolus for heparin (mL/hr). The integrated heparin pump is advantageous as it delivers heparin into the blood passes through the filter, thus lowering patient risk of receiving excess fluids as they may when given the heparin treatment via IV. Furthermore, the PrisMax temperature control method has optional integrated TherMax blood warmer. No other product possesses these three (3) features altogether.
