About this file
This document is a Single Source Justification for the simplified acquisition of 36 totes of Cryotech's Polar Plus LT 55/45 dilute - Ready to Use (55% Polar Plus and 45% Water), Type I Aircraft Deicing/Anti-icing Fluid for the 437th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron located at Joint Base Charleston, South Carolina. The requirement is for $106,259.60 worth of deicing fluid to allow C-17 aircraft maintainers to remove ice from aircraft windshields. A search of vendors revealed two small businesses and two large businesses authorized to sell the Cryotech product, which is the only brand that meets the Air Force technical order requirements. The Contracting Officer has determined a single source procurement is justified under FAR 13.106-1(b)(1) due to the lack of available alternate brands that meet the technical specifications.
