Conservation X Labs is the sole developer and manager of the DMS that will host this project and has a working knowledge of the NISC-SEC’s technology innovation agenda, of which the ROD Innovation Challenge is an outgrowth. Conservation X Labs also served on the 2016 Innovation Summit Planning Committee, contributed moderators and speakers to the event, and led production of the summit report, which is the contributing factor to utilize the organization’s DMS on a Rapid ʻŌhiʻa Death (ROD) challenges and solutions. The organization is well-positioned to use peer-networks, crowd sourcing, and social media to reach out and engage experts in the ROD Innovation Challenge, as well as leverage additional resources to make the ROD Innovation Challenge successful. There are no other environmental consulting firms which possess the unique capabilities needed by ONHR and NISC-SEC for administering the ROD Innovation Challenge/Prize Competition utilizing their DMS on-line technology challenge platform for invasive species.
6. Market Research.
The vendor’s listed below were considered for this requirement when Market Research was conducted but Conservation X Labs was identified as best positioned to serve as the contractor.
| Ch2m: | While Ch2m does have capabilities in environmental science (waste solution-environmental planning-sediments management-site remediation and revitalization-threat reduction and health security-business solutions & sustainability), their focus doesn’t include tool and technology innovation as it relates to invasive species. They are not engaged in technology innovation challenges. |
| Tetra Tech: | Tetra Tech does have environmental capabilities (Air Quality-Emergency Management-Environmental Compliance-Environmental Management-Remediation-Waste Management), but they do not include tool and technology innovation as it relates to invasive species. |
| Deloitte: | Deloitte has expressed an interest in invasive species and technology innovation, but their field of interest is largely limited to information services. They do not have an online initiative equivalent to Conservation X Labs’ Digital Maker Space. |
| AECOM: | Has environmental projects (Hancock Coal Environmental Approvals-Field Study of Methane Emissions Measurements from the Oil & Gas Industry-Environmental Site Assessments, Risk Analysis and Preliminary Remediation Plan), but none of them include tool and technology innovation as it relates to invasive species. |
