Statement of Need
Background:
NOAA’s Marine Operation Center – Atlantic (MOC-A) is home port to one NOAA vessel and is utilized year-round by five other NOAA vessels. Ships that import at MOC-A visit for a variety of reasons, repair (emergency and scheduled), weather, safe manning, staging and un-staging. On several occasions, NOAA vessels arrive with no shore power cables, the wrong shore power cables, or too short of a shore power cable. We have spent hours splicing cables to make sure a ship is able to hook up to shore electricity and power down their generators.
MOC-A has a set of shore power connections, (potable water lines, sewage lines, fire hoses and many different adaptors) for each of our ships to be able to hook up to our facility at any time. Two shore power cables and a passthrough box is the last items we need to ensure any NOAA ship can safely obtain electrical power from our facility.
Scope:
Procurement of two 100’ 400-amp electrical power cable with Viking (clam shell, NATO) plugs on each end. We also need to procure a pass-through box with a Viking receptacle on both ends. This will include all shipping costs.
