About this file
The document is an ordinance for the Shade Tree Commission in the City of Scranton, Pennsylvania, adopted in 1980. The ordinance establishes a five-member commission responsible for supervising, managing, and regulating the planting and seeding of shade trees throughout the city. Commission members are appointed by the Mayor with City Council consent, with initial appointments staggered from one to five years, and subsequent terms lasting five years. The first organizational meeting will appoint a chairman and co-chairman, each serving a one-year term.
The commission is authorized to receive funds from grants and other sources to fulfill its purpose. Vacancies due to death, resignation, or other reasons will be filled by new appointees who will serve the remainder of the predecessor's term. While this document does not directly relate to the Professional Tree Services contract opportunity, it provides the municipal framework for tree management in Scranton, potentially informing the scope and requirements of the upcoming professional services procurement.
