About this file

This is a Statement of Work for a 12-month maintenance service contract for a TESCAN MIRA4 Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) located at the USGS Alaska Volcano Observatory in Anchorage, Alaska. The service contract period runs from December 1, 2026 through November 30, 2027. The equipment supports response and background research on Alaska volcanoes and mineral analysis for the Alaska Science Center, requiring specialized vendor maintenance due to its complex field emission gun source and components that cannot be serviced by USGS staff.

The contract deliverables include one annual preventive maintenance and calibration visit performed by factory-trained TESCAN engineers, unlimited emergency and as-needed maintenance visits at no additional cost, priority telephone support with guaranteed 24-hour callback or email response, priority scheduling for all site visits, certified software updates at no charge, and provision of one FEG emitter replacement on an as-needed basis (maximum one per two-year period). All on-site visits, labor, genuine spare parts, travel expenses, and component repairs or testing performed at TESCAN facilities are included at the vendor's expense. The government will furnish no property, and no special personnel qualifications, data rights, security clearances, or privacy considerations are required for this procurement.
