About this file
This document is a federal specification for FME (Flight Medical Equipment) coveralls, identified by NSN LLS048919 and document number 6296-7910. The coveralls are one-piece outfits in medium green, manufactured from a 65% polyester and 35% cotton blend weighing 5.5 to 8 ounces in preshrunk cotton with a commercial two-up, one-down twill weave. All seams must be double seams, completely finished, and free of loose materials visible to the unaided eye. Fasteners consist of Velcro or equivalent hook-and-pile fastener tape applied to the front, pant cuffs, sleeve cuffs, and pocket tops.
The coveralls feature a full collar with a single front pocket on the left chest and elastic stirrups with reinforcing box-stitches on pant leg openings. Size specifications are provided for five sizes (Medium through XXX-Large) with corresponding chest, leg inseam, and sleeve inseam measurements and specified tolerances. All coveralls must be preshrunk prior to government receipt and labeled with the manufacturer's name and identifying number in a permanent and visible manner. Contractors are required to submit a certificate of compliance confirming adherence to the preshrinking requirement with each shipment.
