About this file
This Scope of Work document is a Request for Pricing issued by Bridgewater State University's Facilities Management and Planning Operations Center in Bridgewater, Massachusetts for the purchase, installation, and integration of four Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) for Air Handler units at the Science and Mathematics Center located at 24 Park Ave, Bridgewater, MA. The project encompasses procurement of VFD equipment and enclosures, installation, wiring (both low and line voltage), conduit work, BACnet communication integration with the existing Energy Management System, and disposal of existing equipment. The VFDs will control four of five air handlers (SF-1 through SF-4) with specifications of 3-phase, 480-volt, 25 horsepower motors. Work must be completed during normal business hours with only one air handler removed from operation at a time to maintain minimum facility airflow and pressure differential. A walkthrough is strongly encouraged with availability on May 20th at 9:00 AM; interested vendors must contact the Operations Center at 508-531-1296 for confirmation at least 24 hours prior to the site visit. Site access is available at the Operations Center located at 200 Great Hill Drive.
Pricing must be itemized with separate line items for labor and materials, and vendors must provide all hardware, components, and permits required for installation. All VFDs and enclosures are to be supplied by the vendor, who is also responsible for removing and disposing of used equipment from the premises. A 50% payment bond is required, and prevailing wage rates apply to all labor. Work includes motor testing to confirm proper rotation in Bypass, Hand, and Auto modes, termination of all wiring, implementation of proper Lock Out/Tag Out procedures, and integration of BACnet points into the existing PLC, supervisor, and server systems. Acceptable VFD manufacturers include Honeywell, Danfoss, or approved equivalents with a minimum 3% AC line reactor or equivalent DC link reactor technology to meet performance and functional requirements.

Bridgewater State University: Request for Pricing
May 1, 2026
Bridgewater State University Facilities Management and Planning - Operations Center 200 Great Hill Drive Bridgewater, MA 02325
RE: Science and Mathematics Center Air Handler VFD Installation - Request for Pricing 24 Park Ave, Bridgewater, MA
SCOPE OF WORK:
This is a request proposal for the purchase, demonstration, installation, wiring, and terminations of four (4) Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs). The current VFD system is integrated with and operated through our existing Energy Management System, specifically for the control of Air Handler (AHU) mechanical systems. For this project, please provide a breakdown of materials and labor as separate line items in your proposal.
The scope of work includes all necessary components related to low and line voltage wiring, conduit, MC cable, junction boxes, connectors, fasteners, and any modifications to the metal framing channel structure needed to mount the new equipment to the existing framework. At project closeout, successful completion will be determined by the installation and proper operation of VFD command, speed adjustment, status indication, existing safety interlocks, and BACnet communication to each new device as required for (AHU) operation and Energy Management System integration. This includes connecting existing BACnet 3-wire communication from each respective VFD currently connected to the local network of PLCs, IoT hardware, supervisor, and server.
Only one air handler can be removed from operation during installation. This installation does not allow for multiple air handlers being removed from operation during installation. Building must allow 4 out of 5 air handlers to run to maintain proper air flow and pressure differential. Walkthrough is strongly encouraged, dates available for walkthrough are provided below.
