About this file

This is a Scope of Work document for the Minneapolis Veterans Affairs Medical Center (VAMC) in Minnesota for SPS RO System Modifications (Project Number 618-26-605). The project objective is to separate the Lab and SPS DI critical water loops by reconnecting the SPS DI water loop to the existing RO critical water loop, thereby consolidating SPS entirely on the RO critical water loop while isolating the Lab on the DI critical water loop. The contractor shall provide all labor, tools, equipment, and materials to disconnect and reconnect water systems, replace RO main branch piping, add ten flushing and testing ports to the RO critical water loop, install a new UV sterilizer (CUVR5-555 rated at 58 gpm), install a new multi-cartridge filter housing (Shelco 7-round by 20-inch with seven 20-inch endotoxin Ameriwater final filters), isolate two unused DI water line sinks in rooms BB-137 and BD-112, sanitize the RO critical water loop, install four steam sampling ports to each of four steam sterilizers, replace the RO low pressure switch, replace six RO membranes (4 x 40 inches), and replace a 20-inch 5-micron RO prefilter. Work shall be performed Monday through Friday outside normal business hours (6:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.), with weekend and holiday work coordinated with the Contracting Officer Representative (COR). The anticipated substantial completion date is 60 calendar days after Notice to Proceed, with all work coordinated with the COR to prevent disruption to SPS or Lab operations.

The anticipated cost range for this project is between $200,000 and $300,000. Contractor personnel must obtain vendor badges from VA Security at the outpatient entrance security desk with valid government-issued identification, with a $50 charge for unreturned badges. Contractor parking shall be coordinated with the COR, with contractor contact information required on all vehicles, equipment, trailers, or containers stored overnight. Daily performance logs and cut sheets for installed items must be submitted to the Contracting Officer and COR. The contractor is responsible for maintaining a safe working environment in compliance with all OSHA and VA safety requirements, including appropriate personal protective equipment and proper disposal of all materials. Work areas must be cleaned daily throughout the project duration.

Scope of Work

Project Number: 618-26-605

Project Name: SPS - RO System Modifications

Last Updated: 8/13/2026

A. Introduction :

a. The objective with this project is to separate the Lab and SPS DI critical water loop and tie in the SPS DI water loop to the existing RO critical water loop. This would put SPS entirely on the RO critical water loop, and the Lab would be on the DI critical water loop. Cutting and bypassing the two sinks in the lab that do not get used, will remove these two dead legs from the DI critical water loop.

This project will also add an additional level of filtration by installing a new UV sterilizer and multi-cartridge filtration system on the RO critical water loop as well as adding all the required testing ports to the RO system and the steam sterilizers as required by ST108 testing standards.

B. Statement of Work:

a. Contractor shall provide all labor, tools, equipment, and materials required to perform the work outlined below. This work includes but is not limited to:

i. Disconnect SPS DI main critical water loop and reconnect to the RO Main line.

ii. Replace the RO main branch piping above BA-101 mechanical so that the main branch piping is all the same size.

iii. Add 10 flushing and testing ports to all points of use on the RO critical water loop

iv. Install new UV Sterilizer CUVR5-555 rated at 58 gpm ( Modular control panel with LED display for UV output, remaining lamp life, total running hours, audible and visual lamp failure, remote on and solenoid ready 316

L stainless steel, polished reactors, with integral sensor port to allow for sensor upgradeability in the future ( comes standard with visual glow plug) 2 NPT connections.

v. Install new multi cartridge filter housing. ( Shelco 7 round by 20 inch filter housing holds 7 filters total, 7 seven 20 inch Endotoxin Ameriwater Final

Filters).

vi. Isolate two DI water lines to sink in rooms BB-137 and BD-112. These sinks are not used and need to be isolated at the main loop in the interstitial.

vii. Sanitize RO critical water loop after installation.

viii. Install 4 steam sampling ports, one to each of the 4 steam sterilizers.

ix. Replace the RO low pressure switch.

x. Replace six RO membranes 4 x 40 inches.

xi. Replace 20” 5- micron filter RO prefilter.

b. The Contractor shall work with the COR to schedule the RO system shutdown so that SPS or Lab operations are not affected. Any shutdown of water lines, equipment, or systems shall also be coordinated with the COR.
