a. Preplant burndown
i. Vendor shall treat the Sunflower & Millet acreage of the three dove fields with a tank mix of glyphosate and 2,4D, and any required surfactants / adjuvants at a rate and method directed by the product label instructions to effectively kill the species and density of weeds targeted. This treatment will occur prior to initially working the ground, and again in the acreage to be planted to millet prior to planting the millet.
ii. Vendor shall treat the acreage to be planted to sunflowers with a tank mix of Spartan 4F, Glyphosate, & Prowl H2O, and any required surfactants / adjuvants at a rate and method directed by the product label instructions to effectively kill the species and density of weeds targeted. b. Tillage
i. By May 10th the Sunflower & Millet acreage of each dove field shall be worked to provide a fine firm seedbed suitable for planting.
c. Fertilizer
i. A custom blended fertilizer mix, outlined in the attached document, will be acquired and spread by the vendor at a rate of 280 pounds per acre over the entire dove field acreages, with the sunflower acreages doubled to total 560 pounds per acre. Fertilizer should be applied close to, or at the time of planting sunflowers.

i. Approximately 2.99 total acres will be planted to sunflowers (approx. 18-20 rows in each field). Target date to have sunflowers planted by is May 10th.
Sunflowers may be planted as early as April 25th if soil temps are adequate.
Sunflowers shall be planted using a planter and 30-36 inch spacing between rows, and at a rate of 18,000 to 22,000 seeds per acre. Planting depth is dependent on soil moisture but is generally 1.5 to 2 inches.
e. Planting White Proso Millet
i. Approximately 3.75 total acres will be planted to millet. Target date to have millet planted by is June 15th. Millet may be planted as early as May 20th if soil conditions are appropriate. This treatment will occur when the sunflowers have 2 to 8 leaves.
ii. Wheat & White Proso Millet - Vendor shall treat the acreage planted to wheat
& millet with 2,4D and any required surfactants / adjuvants at a rate and method directed by the product label instructions to effectively kill the species and density of weeds targeted. This treatment will occur if needed to control broadleaf weeds, and millet has reached the appropriate stage of growth. Do not apply before tillering or from early boot through the milk stage of growth.
All acreages are estimated, and each vendor should rely on their own calculations before placing a bid.
The timeframe for this project shall be from the time of award through June 30th, 2026.
All work shall be conducted Monday through Friday unless prior approval is obtained from the ODNR, Division of Wildlife project agent. The contractor is required to contact the ODNR, Division of Wildlife project agent, at least two business days prior to initially entering the property for work.
