About this file
This document is an Addendum #1 related to the UNC Chapel Hill - Parking Deck LED Lighting Safety Upgrades-Jackson Deck contract opportunity. The project involves the demolition, removal, and disposal of existing lighting fixtures in the Jackson Parking Deck, and the installation of new lighting fixtures, new surge protective devices, emergency lighting circuits, and exit signs throughout the deck. The base bid includes work in the stairwell towers and levels 1, 2, and 3, with alternates for levels 4, 5, and 6. A pre-bid site visit was held on September 18, 2024, and the bid opening is scheduled for October 2, 2024 at 2:00 pm. The contract time of completion is 240 days from the notice to proceed, which is expected to occur around mid-October.
The addendum provides details on blocked-out workdays due to home football and basketball games, as well as a list of questions and responses from the pre-bid site visit. It also outlines the preferred brand alternates for the LSI light fixture, and notes that there are 13 unit prices requested on the bid form, some of which require the manufacturer name. Liquidated damages are set at $200 per day beyond the construction calendar days of work not completed.

C. Questions:
1. Is there a specific laydown area?
Response: The laydown area would be on the level you are currently working on. A few parking spaces can be taken for use as the laydown area.
2. Level 6 deck cabling is touching poles on the east side of the deck. The cabling appears to have been installed after the current poles and is keeping tension on the poles. How are these poles to be replaced and if they are to be relocated?
Response: The three poles affected are to be installed back in the same locations.
Provide custom sheet metal shroud wrapped around the pole and along the length of pole where in contact with the cabling to prevent damage to the pole’s finish.
