The purpose of tree shelters is to protect young sapling or trees from browsing by herbivores by forming a physical barrier around the tree. A tree shelter, tree guard or tree tube (sometimes also Tuley tube) is a structure that protects planted tree they can be one or two pieces depending on the design. The US Forest Service is open to all types of designs.

One or two pieces in construction or any other type depending on current market conditions.

Cylindrical in shape Height 15-24 inches Top diameter of 3-5 inches Base diameter 7-8 inches Tree Shelter Structure: Opaque/diffuse plastic with minimal ventilation and the structure will be attached to ground with at least two sturdy attachment points (e.g., two wooden stakes zip-tied to tube, or metal tines integrated into the tube, or other system). Or pre-assembled with three staking legs attached: your choice.

Shelter will be manufactured of solid polymer material with no mesh, and sufficiently rigid to allow the shelter to be pushed into workable soil without the use of driving tools.

The shelter shall be made of translucent materials and include design features that allow the shelter to photo-degrade over a period of 5-7 years. Separate or fracture and, in the event the shelter is never removed. Not constrict the developing seedling which it protects as it matures into a tree.
