Good Day!
Below are questions that have been posed regarding solicitation SB1341-17-RQ-0443, for the procurement of X-Ray CCD Detectors.
1. Is there a physical weight minimum or maximum?
20kg or less
2. Is a quote format acceptable that addresses each desired specification for the sensor?
Yes
3. In terms of common control language (point 29 on the statement of work), is it mandatory to have all of the following: EPICS, Labview, and Python? Would it be sufficient to offer EPICS driver and C++SDK with full IT support included?
It is not mandatory to have all the listed control language options. The proposed support would be sufficient.
4. The expiration date for the solicitation is posted as Wednesday May 25, 2017. However, the corrected day is Tuesday May 30, 2017. @ 11:00AM Eastern Standard Time
5. In the SOW, Figure 1, the distance of the detector sensor from the X-ray bean is not indicated. Taking into account the complexity of the system we would minimum and maximum desired/requested distance of the CCD active area from the axis of the beam. Distance from the beam is not part of the specification, as it might change depending on vendor-specific detector details. The required distance can be calculated from point 6 and the figure’s description of the limiting geometry required.
6. The SOW point 11 calls for cooling -70 C with water. Technically quite impossible. Was the intention of requisitioner to put liquid nitrogen cooling?
Cooling to -70 C with a water utility is commonly done when the water is a heat sink. With a Peltier, for example.
7. For “REQUIRED SUBMISSIONS”; is one document with all components acceptable or you are requiring separate (PDF) documents for each item?
Either of these approaches would be acceptable. As long as all the required submissions are provided, NIST defers to the discretion of the contractor regarding format.
8. Is this to be implemented on a synchrotron or lab beamline?
A Synchrotron
9. As it is specified, it looks like the camera will be used in binning most of the time. Is this because the frame rate is too low and you need to be synchronized with a pumped HHG laser or simply because you have low flux?
The signals we will be measuring will have a high dynamic range, and at the low end, single photons /s/100 x 100 um area are expected.
10. You mentioned 10 photons as the lower end limit, any upper end?
It was specified in a single exposure 18 bits of dynamic range.
