STATEMENT OF WORK
TITLE: Upgrade DCI Pump Series 32
I. BACKGROUND INFORMATION
The National Institute of Standards and Technology’s (NIST) Materials Science and Engineering Division develops the measurement science, standards, technology, and data required to support the nation's need to design, develop, manufacture, and use materials. The division is currently developing an instrument for high shear rate rheoSANS, which simultaneously functions as an instrument for rheology and small angle (neutron) scattering, and uses a Volume Pressure Actuator (VPA) Syringe Pump to support this project. The division has a requirement to upgrade a NIST-owned VPA pump from a single syringe to a dual syringe to allow for steady driving and continuous flow.
The current single syringe pump(32S-5-375-400-SS) was purchased from DCI Test Systems in support of this project. Upgrading to a dual syringe system (32D-5-375-400-SS) will enable a constant high pressure flux as the two pumps work together, repeatedly trading off to provide a constant infinite flow. This capability will improve performance at the highest pressures and flow rates.
II. SCOPE OF WORK
The Contractor shall deliver required parts and instructions to perform an upgrade of the current single syringe pump (32S-5-375-400-SS) to a dual syringe pump (32D-5-375-400-SS).
