About this file
This is a Statement of Work (SOW) for NASA's procurement of a ZYGO NEWVIEW 9000 upgrade to characterize physical properties of micrometeoroid impacts on representative surfaces for space telescope applications, with findings to inform the Habitable Worlds Observatory (HWO) architecture.
The procurement encompasses nine line items totaling equipment, services, and labor. The primary component is the NV6000 to NV9000 Profiler Series Upgrade (Part 6311-0908-01), which upgrades the existing NewView 6000 series optical profiler to the current NewView 9000 series with high-performance closed-loop piezo scanning transducer, high-speed 1.6K X 1.2K digital camera, automated motorized 3-position image zoom, Core Ultra i7 System Controller with 27" display and 32 GB DDR5 SDRAM running Windows 11 IoT Enterprise LTSC 2024, and a 5-axis motorized system with 100 mm Z-travel and 150 mm X and Y travel. Additional line items include a Peripheral Kit with monitor, keyboard, and mouse (Part 6300-0239-53); a Manual Encoded 4-position objective turret (Part 6308-0105-02); two field zoom lenses at 0.5X and 2.0X magnification (Parts 6300-0522-02 and 6300-0526-02); US airfare for service installation; Zone 3 travel and zone charges for on-site service; 16 hours of Zygo on-site labor for installation; and a Certificate of Calibration with ISO-17025 traceability. The place of performance is NASA Marshall Space Center (MSFC), with a period of performance of 8-10 weeks after receipt of order (ARO) plus 3-4 weeks for installation. Pricing terms are specified as actual costs invoiced upon completion for airfare and hourly labor charges.

STATEMENT OF WORK
1. Objective/Requirements
Micrometeoroid impacts pose multiple challenges to space telescopes: dynamic stability, survivability and near-angle scattered light. The focus of this study is to characterize physical properties of realistic impacts on representative surfaces. This will be informative for all future missions using similar material and will directly inform Habitable Worlds Observatory (HWO) architecture consideration. To achieve these goals, NASA must procure the ZYGO NEWVIEW 9000 upgrade to our existing equipment provides improved metrology capability for our measurement of the micrometeoroid impacts. The information listed below is needed to complete this purchase.
