About this file

This is a Statement of Work for a NASA contract to develop Engineering Test Unit (ETU) electronics for a Main Electronics Box (MEB) intended for a 5-year space mission. The contractor must deliver a complete set of electronic cards, backplane, chassis, and intellectual property to NASA GSFC in Greenbelt, Maryland by March 1, 2027. The system must support TensorFlow artificial intelligence processing, provide 1.5 TB of non-volatile memory storage, and simultaneously drive and read two detectors at up to 50 Mbps each frame rate. The design must weigh less than 3 kg and include separate RS422 interfaces for spacecraft command, telemetry, pulse per second signals, and science data.

The technical requirements encompass a Low Voltage Power Supply capable of up to 50W total consumption that is MIL-STD-461 compliant, LVDS interfaces for two Teledyne SIDECAR ASICs and detectors, variable voltage control for two thermal electric coolers maintaining ±500 mK stability, PWM control of 5-8 heaters with independent duty cycle control, capability to read 16 platinum resistance thermometer sensors across -50°C to +50°C range, and control of up to three optical switches. The design must include space-qualified connectors, memory scrubbing, JTAG and test ethernet interfaces, and undergo comprehensive electrical analyses including worst-case circuit analysis, parts stress analysis, signal integrity, and power integrity. The system must also satisfy mechanical and structural requirements for Falcon Heavy launch vehicle vibration, acoustics, and shock loads up to 1910 G's; demonstrate compliance to 30 krad total ionizing dose and 75 MeV cm²/mg linear energy transfer radiation standards; support 12 thermal vacuum test cycles between -50°C and +50°C; and provide card-level and box-level functional testing verification with ongoing hardware support.
