About this file

This is a Statement of Work for a peer review project managed by NASA's Johnson Space Center Toxicology Group. The contractor, SciPinion LLC, is required to coordinate an external peer-review panel and generate recommendations for updates to NASA's guidelines for establishing Spacecraft Maximum Allowable Concentrations (SMACs) and Spacecraft Water Exposure Guidance (SWEGs), which govern safety standards for air and water quality in spaceflight environments.

The project is structured in two phases with specific deliverables and timelines. Phase I, due within 6 months of contract initiation, requires the contractor to coordinate a peer-review panel to assess current JSC Toxicology guidelines and policies. Phase II, due within 9 months of contract initiation, requires delivery of a comprehensive report to NASA containing specific reviewer recommendations for updates or modifications, including concrete examples and references to alternative approaches. Work performance is designated at SciPinion LLC's headquarters in Bozeman, Montana, with the contract period running from October 1, 2026 through July 1, 2027.
