About this file
This is a Statement of Work (SOW) for NASA Langley Research Center's procurement of a water-based coolant filter system replacement for the Direct-Connect Combustion-heated Scramjet Test Facility (DCCSTF) located at Building B1221C. The filter will support current and future test operations, replacing an existing filter system installed in the 1960s that has reached end-of-life status.
The required filter system consists of a housing with specified ports, access lid, floor stand, and mesh filter membrane. Key technical specifications include: ASME Code Section VIII, Division 1 construction certification with "U" stamp; minimum operating pressure of 540 psig; maximum operating temperature of 200°F; pressure differential not exceeding 1 psid at 450 GPM flowrate; vertical cylindrical basket housing with top closure assembly using bolt and hex nut design; drain port at the lowest wetted point; customizable floor stand with minimum 6-inch height adjustment capability; all wetted parts fabricated from 304 stainless steel; all welded attachments from 300-series stainless steel; 6-inch 300# RFSO flanges for inlet/outlet connections; Buna gasket material; and 70-mesh strainer basket with 304 stainless steel primary structure. The filter must support cooling water requirements for the facility's heater, nozzles, customer combustors, facility ejector, and any other future test articles installed at the facility.

Direct-Connect Combustion-heated Scramjet Test Facility (DCCSTF) Coolant Filter Replacement
SOW - Specifications and Requirements
NASA Langley Research Center desires the purchase, and the delivery of a water based coolant filter system to support test operations at the B1221C Direct-Connect Combustion-heated Scramjet Test Facility (DSCSTF). This filter will be used for currently scheduled testing at this facility and will replace an existing, near end of life, water pump outlet filter filter must support/meet the cooling water requirements set forth by the DCCSTF operations to its and any other future test article requirements installed at the facility.
The pump outlet filter system by definition shall consist of the housing with specified ports, access lid, stand, and mesh filter membrane of specified mesh for filtration.
Requirements for the entirety of the filter housing, and associated filter mesh elements of the assembly are as follows:
1. Meet code construction requirements per ASME Code Section VIII, Div 1,
2. Design shall support operating pressure minimum of 540 psig
3. Design shall support operating temperature maximum 200 °F
4. Pressure differential across filter membrane shall not exceed 1 psid at a flowrate of 450 GPM.
5. Basket housing shall be of vertical cylindrical design with closure assembly at the top
6. Closure assemblies shall be by bolt and hex nut design
7. Basket housing shall include drain port at lowest wetted point
8. Product shall include floor stand that supports customizable height adjustment of at least 6 inches
9. All wetted parts to be 304 SS
10. All welded attachments to be 300 series SS
11. Inlet/Outlet
12. Gasket material: Buna
13. Strainer basket shall be 70 mesh filtration with primary structure being
304 SS
