About this file

This is a Statement of Work (SOW) for the manufacture of rotor blades to support NASA's Skyfall mission and future vertical lift missions to Mars. The contractor is required to manufacture a set of five Skyfall blades identical to the flight hardware that will be used on the actual Skyfall mission, utilizing the same molds and manufacturing processes as the flight units. The blades must be ready for ground test equipment operation and include the same root retention system as the flight hardware. The contractor will be responsible for packaging the blades to protect them during transit to NASA Ames.

The primary deliverable is one Skyfall blade set consisting of five blades. Work will be performed at the contractor's facility, with a delivery deadline of 41 weeks after contract award. No government-provided information is specified for this effort. The objective is to enable NASA Ames to conduct fundamental aerodynamic testing using flight-representative geometry for mission validation and future Mars vertical lift applications.

STATEMENT OF WORK

1. Introduction/Background: Additional fundamental aerodynamic testing is required to support the upcoming NASA Skyfall mission and future vertical lift missions to Mars. To understand the fundamentals, computational predictions and experimental validation is required using the same geometry blades as will be used for the Skyfall mission.

2. Scope of Work: The purchase request (PR) will cover the manufacture of a set of Skyfall blades manufactured identical to the flight blades that will be used on the Skyfall mission.

3. Objectives: The provision of rotor blades for testing by NASA Ames.

4. Description of the Work/Contractor Tasks:

The Skyfall blade set will be manufactured using identical molds and processes as used for the flight hardware that will be used on the Skyfall mission. The contractor will provide blades that are ready to be spun on ground test equipment, with the same root retention system as used on the flight hardware. The blades will be sent to NASA Ames in packaging that will protect the blades during transit.

5. Deliverables: The following items will be delivered:

• Skyfall blade set of 5 blades

6. Government Provided Information: None

7. Place of Performance Contractor facility

8. Period of Performance The blades shall be delivered within 41 weeks after contract award date.
