About this file
This is a Statement of Work for the purchase of a Bruker Q4 Polo OES (Optical Emission Spectroscopy) metals analysis system or equivalent for NASA Langley Research Center.
The procurement requires delivery of a complete Q4 Polo configuration consisting of the basic spectrometer unit, multi-purpose sample tray, power cord, and four application packages for analyzing Iron & Steel, Aluminum, Copper, Nickel, and Titanium materials. Additional components include Total Materia grade library software with SmartComp identification (OEM Desktop offline version with 200 exports and free updates), standard OES PC with EN configuration, Dell 22-inch TFT display, argon pressure regulator (US CGA 580), electrode spacer tool, North American system installation and training, and 4 hours of remote support/training. The instrument is a CCD-based spectrometer featuring MultiVision optics technology with a digital spark source (50-1000 Hz frequency), robust Paschen-Runge optical mounting, and Elemental Suite software providing qualitative and quantitative analysis capabilities with ready-to-use workflows for Positive Material Identification, quick sorting, and analysis. The system operates on 100-240V (50/60 Hz) power and measures 29 cm wide × 28.4 cm high × 57 cm deep, weighing approximately 36 kg. Performance location is NASA Langley Research Center, Building 1232A, Room 101B/C, Hampton, Virginia 23681, with a period of performance of 11-13 weeks as soon as reasonably obtainable (ARO).

Q4P_A01_1 Q4 POLO, basic unit - OR EQUIVALENT
-The Bruker Q4 POLO is a metal testing instrument used to quickly determine the exact chemical makeup of metal parts and materials. It helps manufacturers and quality inspectors verify that metals meet required specifications before they are used in production. The system delivers fast, accurate results for a wide variety of metals, including steel, aluminum, copper, and iron alloys. Its user-friendly software and automated features make testing simple and efficient, even for routine inspections. By providing reliable material identification and quality verification, the Q4 POLO helps reduce errors, improve product quality, and support confident manufacturing decisions.
Key Features:
• MultiVision optics with electromagnetic light junction covering the full elemental range with superior performance and small footprint
• AAC and ArgonShield result in incredible long-term stability without increasing argon gas consumption
• The new active sensing SmartSpark source is fully digital and equipped with detection of non-energetic discharges for increased precision and long-term stability.
