Summary of Statement of Work
This Statement of Work outlines a NASA GSFC contract for the design and fabrication of silicon CMOS pixel detectors for the AstroPix ISFM project. The work is divided into three distinct objectives: (1) design and fabricate a small test chip at a silicon CMOS foundry, (2) develop a test system to characterize the first detector iteration, and (3) design and fabricate a full chip based on validated design specifications. The resulting sensors are prototypes intended for NASA GSFC internal scientific purposes and capability demonstration.
The technical requirements specify a 36-column by 34-row pixel matrix (1,224 pixels) with 500-micrometer pixel pitch and 300-micrometer pixel size, incorporating 3 tune bits per pixel. The detector must achieve a dynamic range of 20 keV to 700 keV with a 5 keV noise floor (2% at 662 keV), an energy resolution of 10% at 120 keV, and target power dissipation below 1.5 mW/cm². Each pixel requires an in-pixel amplifier with dynamic feedback capability, and the device requires sensor reverse bias voltage capability up to 400-500V for depletion maximization. Additional specifications include 1 hit buffer per pixel, 16-bit Flash-TDC, timestamps at both 2.5 MHz and 20 MHz, six 10-bit VDACs, integrated injection switch, temperature sensors, PLL, and DLL for TDC stabilization. The digital interface must include 2 SR interfaces, LVDS 20 MHz clock capability, common interrupt and hold signals, unique ID per sensor, and 5 QSPI I/O in daisy chain configuration. Work will be performed from July 1, 2026 through July 1, 2028 at a contractor-determined facility, with exact dates subject to adjustment as the project progresses.

STATEMENT OF WORK
1. Objective/Requirements
a. The objective of this work is to design and fabricate silicon CMOS pixel detectors for the AstroPix ISFM. The sensors designed by the contractor and manufactured at a silicon CMOS foundry are prototypes used by NASA GSFC for internal scientific purposes and demonstration of capabilities. This is broken into 3 separate parts:
i. The first objective is to design and fabricate a small test chip at a silicon CMOS foundry
ii. The second objective will be to develop a test system for the sensors to characterize the first iteration of these detectors
iii. The third objective will be to design and fabricate a full chip based on a validate design (second iteration of these detectors)
b. The requirements are below:
i. Supplies:
1. Analog Supply VDDA: 1.8V
2. Analog Supply VSSA: 1.2V
3. Digital Supply VDDD: 1.8V
