Statement of Work Summary

This Statement of Work specifies NASA Glenn Research Center's requirements for the application of fused silicide coatings to refractory alloy specimens. The contractor must provide two coating options: HITEMCO R512E with a chemical composition of Si-20Fe-20Cr, and HITEMCO R512A with a chemical composition of Si-20Cr-5Ti. Both coatings must be applied using the slurry-fused diffusion coating method to achieve a uniform thickness of 0.003" to 0.005" on TGA specimen geometries measuring 12x12x3 millimeters with a hole, in accordance with customer specifications.

The R512E coating requirement includes thirty (30) identically coated refractory alloy specimens to be coated and diffusion heat treated in a single batch. The R512A coating requirement includes twenty-four (24) identically coated refractory alloy specimens to be coated and diffusion heat treated in a single batch. All coatings must meet the minimum requirements of their respective HITEMCO standards. The contracting point of contact is the Environmental Effects and Coatings Branch at NASA Glenn Research Center, 21000 Brookpark Road, MS 106-1, Cleveland, Ohio 44135.

STATEMENT OF WORK

Application of Fused Silicide R512E/R512A Coating to Refractory Alloy Specimens; Specifications and Requirements

NASA Glenn Research Center (GRC) is interested in fused silicide coating of refractory alloy specimens.

Specifically, the refractory alloy specimens must be coated with Si-20Fe-20Cr or Si- 20Cr-5Ti and meet the minimum requirements of HITEMCO R512E or R512A coating.

1. HITEMCO R512E:

a. The fused silicide coating must have the following chemical composition in weight percent: Si-20Fe-20Cr.

b. The coating must be applied using slurry-fused diffusion coating method to achieve a uniform coating thickness of 0.003”-0.005”.

c. Coatings need to be applied to TGA specimen geometries in accordance with customer specifications.

i. Thirty (30) identically coated refractory alloy specimens (12x12x3 mm, with hole) coated and diffusion heat treated in a single batch.

2. HITEMCO R512A:

a. The fused silicide coating must have the following chemical composition in weight percent: Si-20Cr-5Ti.

b. The coating must be applied using slurry-fused diffusion coating method to achieve a uniform coating thickness of 0.003”-0.005”.

c. Coatings need to be applied to TGA specimen geometries in accordance with customer specifications.

i. Twenty-four (24) identically coated refractory alloy specimens (12x12x3 mm, with hole) coated and diffusion heat treated in a single batch.
