About this file
This is a Statement of Work for procurement of broadband seismic stations by NASA Marshall Space Flight Center, dated June 23, 2026.
NASA Marshall Space Flight Center is procuring a minimum quantity of two high-quality broadband seismic stations for seismic analysis of coastal and rocket launch environments to support Coastal Resiliency and Planetary Rocket Launch projects. The seismic stations must detect and record ground vibrations at the nanometer to micrometer scale and include seismic sensors with 32-bit digitizer/recorders in ruggedized, sealed, non-corrosive housings suitable for direct burial or surface deployment in coastal environments. Key specifications include: broadband frequency sensitivity from 120 seconds to 100 Hz with self-noise less than -170 dB between 0.1-1 Hz; modifiable sensor sensitivity corner frequency; minimum operational tilt range of ±50 degrees; 24-bit data digitizer recording at or above maximum sensor frequency; dual SD-type card storage with at least one hot-swappable slot and minimum 64 GB redundant storage; miniSEED file format data recording; integrated orientation, temperature, atmospheric pressure, humidity, and input voltage sensors; Linux/MacOS/Windows compatibility with ethernet or USB interface; dimensions under 250 mm diameter; weight under 5 kg; operational temperature range of -15°C to +50°C; IP68 or IP69 rated weatherproof non-corrosive casing; 12 V DC nominal input with 3W or less power consumption; and associated sealed GNSS receiver with proprietary cabling. Delivery is required by end of August 2026, or the supplier must provide written explanation and delivery estimate by end of October 2026.

Statement of Work:
June 23, 2026
1. Objective/Requirements
Seismic analysis of the ocean-to-coast and rocket launch energy environment for Coastal Resiliency and Planetary Rocket Launch Components and Specifications for Procurement by NASA Marshall Space Flight Center.
2. Scope/Purpose
Procurement of high quality broadband seismic stations to detect and record ground vibrations at the nanometer to micrometer scale. The seismic stations should include seismic sensors and 32-bit digitizer/recorders within ruggedized and sealed non-corrosive housings to be suitable for direct burial or surface deployment in a coastal environment. The sensors must be able to detect and quantify tilt and have an operational tilt range of at least 50 degrees to be deployable on a coastal dune and detect long period ground shift due to ground water changes for the Coastal Resiliency and Planetary Rocket Launch projects.
3. Operational/Service Requirements
Supplier will provide devices that exceed the requirements specified below.
Quantity of 2 or more to be procured.
Supplier will deliver these devices in a timely manner, as early as possible, but prior to the end of August 2026, or provide written explanation and estimate for delivery time frame prior to end October 2026.
4. Specifications
A suitable seismic station will meet or exceed the following specs and provide:
Seismic Sensitivity: Broadband frequency sensitivity range of at least 120 second to 100 Hz and less than -170 dB self-noise between 0.1-1 Hz
Ability to modify sensor sensitivity corner frequency to accommodate planned deployments Minimum operational tilt range: +/- 50 degrees A 24-bit data digitizer that records data at or above maximum sensor frequency sensitivity Dual SD-type card onboard data storage with at least one hot-swappable card slot At least 64 GB of redundant onboard data storage Data recorded in miniSEED file format Integrated sensors for orientation, temperature, atmospheric pressure, humidity, input voltage
Compatible with Linux, MacOS, or Windows with ethernet or USB interface Dimensions: <250 mm diameter Weight: <5 kg Operational Temperature: -15°C - +50°C Weather protection: Environmentally sealed casing with IP68 or IP69 rated protection that is non-corrosive in a coastal environment Power: 12 V DC nominal input and 3W or less power consumption for the sensor Associated sealed GNSS receiver and proprietary cabling required for operation
