About this file

This is a Statement of Work for the procurement of a DLC CTL 1050 laser system to be delivered to NASA Ames Research Center's COSMIC laboratory. The laser will serve as a pump source for an existing TOPO laser to support continuous wave cavity ring down spectroscopy (IR-CRDS) research. The equipment is funded by NASA's Science Mission Directorate (SMD) to advance research and analysis programs across NASA's Astrophysics and Planetary Divisions, as well as support mission-critical programs including the Hubble Space Telescope, James Webb Space Telescope, Stratospheric Observatory for Infrared Astronomy (SOFIA), and Cassini.

The required laser specifications include a tuning range of 1010–1100 nm with no mode-hops, output power exceeding 12 mW, isolation greater than 45 dB across the range, and a maximum scan speed of 10 nm/s. Additional critical specifications include absolute wavelength accuracy of less than 110 picometers, relative accuracy of less than 10 picometers, instantaneous linewidth typically below 0.5 kHz, short-term linewidth below 10 kHz, motor micro step size of 0.4 pm, piezo scan capability up to 45 GHz, TEM00 output beam characteristics between 1mm × 1mm and 1mm × 3mm, and low power consumption of approximately 50 watts. Delivery is required as soon as possible. The NASA Points of Contact are Farid Salama and Salma Bejaoui at NASA Ames Research Center, with Bejaoui as the primary contact (Salma.Bejaoui@nasa.gov, 650-604-4217).

STATEMENT OF WORK FOR

DLC CTL 1050 in NASA Ames COSMIC lab

Note: Only use the sections that are applicable to your service procurement.

Background/ Scope DLC CTL 1050 laser will be purchased to pump the TOPO laser already available in the NASA Ames COSMIC lab. This pump laser has a narrow linewidth needed for the continuous wave cavity ring down spectrometer. This equipment is funded by NASA SMD to support NASA’s space research and missions. The IR-CRDS project supports a wide variety of NASA’s Astrophysics and Planetary Divisions’ Research and Analysis (R&A) programs as well as mission directed programs and NASA’s space missions such as Hubble Space telescope (HST), James Webb Space Telescope (JWST), Stratospheric Observatory for Infrared Astronomy (SOFIA) and Cassini.
