About this file
This is a Statement of Work (SOW) for the fabrication and post-processing of additively manufactured GRCop-42 test specimens for NASA's Marshall Space Flight Center (MSFC). The work comprises two primary tasks: production of test specimens using powder bed fusion (PBF) additive manufacturing and post-processing of manufactured components. The vendor must produce a total of 228 test specimens across seven specimen types, including 20 as-printed high cycle fatigue (HCF) bars, 20 near net shape HCF bars, 30 as-printed room temperature ultimate strength fatigue (USF) bars, 30 near net shape RT USF bars, 40 near net shape elevated temperature USF bars, 30 blank cylinders (16mm diameter x 110mm tall), and 8 thin section tensile coupons. All parts must be fabricated with no witness lines, restarts, or coater arm tears.
Post-processing requirements include depowdering of all specimens, removal from build plates via wire electrical discharge machining (EDM), vacuum nucleation cleaning, and Hot Isostatic Pressing (HIP) operations conducted by a mutually agreed upon vendor per NASA processing parameters. The vendor must demonstrate material density of at least 99.2% in the as-built condition prior to fabrication. Additional requirements include providing material certificates and powder lot documentation, maintaining as-built surface finish without media blasting, reporting any build anomalies to the MSFC Technical Point of Contact, and delivering all hardware and one blank bar and one tensile coupon in as-printed condition to NASA. Deliverables include the printed GRCop-42 specimens per the specimen matrix and documentation on the build and powder pedigree. The period of performance is six weeks from contract award, with delivery to Central Receiving, Building 4631, NASA Marshall Space Flight Center, Huntsville, AL 35812.

Statement of Work (SOW) for GRCop-42 Test Specimens The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), specifically Marshall Space Flight Center (MSFC) has a need for fabrication and post-processing of additively manufactured GRCop-42 test specimens to evaluate the very high cycle fatigue and thin wall tensile properties of the alloy for applications in rotating detonation engine components. This hardware must be fabricated with no witness lines, restarts, or coater arm tears. All test bars
Task 1, Production of GRCop-42 Test Specimens The vendor shall produce the test bars listed in the provided Quote. All test bar dimensions and appropriate models will be provided by NASA engineers at Marshall Space Flight Center before production. During production AME must meet the following requirements. Provide all parts with no witness lines, restarts, or coater arm tears.
Task 2, Post Processing of Additively Manufactured Components Several of the required post processing steps shall be conducted by AME. All specimens shall be de-powdered. The vendor shall remove the parts from the build plate using electrical discharge machining (EDM) and parts will be sent to a mutually agreed vendor for Hot Isostatic Pressing (HIP) operations. Vacuum nucleation will also be conducted to clean the parts.
Requirements for Additively Manufactured GRCop-alloy hardware:
1. Vendor shall fabricate all test specimens using powder bed fusion (PBF) additive manufacturing per provided matrix outlined below.
2. Vendor shall provide material to complete all builds.
3. Density of the material in the as-built condition shall be a minimum of 99.2% prior to any post-processing heat treatments or Hot Isostatic Pressing (HIP) operations and be demonstrated prior to fabrication of any hardware.
4. Vendor shall remove all test bars from the build plate by wire EDM prior to HIP
5. Vendor shall set aside one blank bar and one thin section tensile coupon in the as-printed condition for pickup by NASA personnel.
6. Vendor shall provide available documentation on the powder lots used during the fabrication process including but not limited chemical composition and powder certificate.
7. Part shall complete Hot Isostatic Pressing (HIP) according to NASA processing parameters.
8. As-built surface finish requested, no media blasting.
9. Any anomalies during the build process of the final part should be reported to MSFC Technical Point of Contact.
10. Parts shall be delivered to Marshall Space Flight Center.
11. Vendor shall provide a basic build package including any build anomalies and data relative as evidenced of process validation under documentation required by AS9100, ISO9001, or similar standard.
