About this file

This is a Statement of Work dated March 30, 2026, for the procurement of two different styles of Ortho Fabric required for the development of lunar dust tolerant materials. Line Item 1 requires 25 yards of a higher denier ePTFE Ortho Fabric with up to 2 Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) yarns woven in either a grid (warp and fill) or stripe pattern (fill only), with the specific pattern style to be determined based on results from testing currently in process. Line Item 2 requires 50 yards of Ortho Fabric style #116, consisting of ePTFE, Nomex, and Kevlar dual-face weave, which serves as a baseline for comparison and contrast testing and is currently certified for the Extravehicular Mobility Unit (EMU) Suit. The total procurement comprises two line items totaling 75 yards of material.

The period of performance is estimated at 12-16 weeks after the manufacturer's receipt of raw materials. Deliverables must be within 5% of specified yardage with no adjustments for contract value; any projected deviations outside this tolerance must be communicated and coordinated with NASA before shipment and invoicing. The vendor must provide a test data sheet consisting of tensile strength results from 6 samples per lot, completed and delivered to NASA upon receipt of material. Vendors are instructed to quote for the highest possible cost between the two pattern options and assume separate shipment of the two rolls.

Statement of Work

March 30, 2026

Objective

Procure two different styles of Ortho Fabric required in the development of lunar dust tolerant materials.

Scope of Work

The first style of fabric is Ortho Fabric style # 116, consisting of a ePTFE, Nomex and Kevlar dual-face weave. Style 116 serves as a baseline for testing as this material is currently certified for the Extravehicular Mobility Unit (EMU) Suit. A baseline is required to compare and contrast data against newly designed fabric styles.

The second style needed for this task is a higher denier ePTFE Ortho Fabric with up to 2 Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) yarns woven in a grid (warp and fill) or stripe pattern (fill only).

This style is to be determined upon results from testing currently in process. The purchase order will reflect both options but ultimately only one of the pattern styles will be procured.

Time Frame

The period of performance is estimated at 12-16 weeks after manufacturers receipt of raw materials (fibers).

Deliverables

Newly developed higher-denier Ortho fabric will yield 25 yards, while Style 116 will be 50 yards. This results in a purchase order of two-line items totaling 75 yards of material. Order quantities as outlined to be delivered within 5% specified yardage with no adjustments for contract value. Any projected deviations outside a 5% specified yardage are to be communicated and coordinated with NASA before shipment and invoicing. Test data sheet consisting of tensile strength (6 samples per lot) of material to be completed by vendor and delivered to NASA upon receipt of material.

Conclusion

For this effort, we will procure 25 yards of line item 1 and 50 yards of line item 2. The vendor should quote the effort for the highest possible cost between Grid/Stripe pattern, and assuming separate shipment of the two rolls.

Description Unit Price Quantity

1 Style #TBD Grid or Strip Pattern

2 Style #116 50 yards
