About this file

This is a Statement of Work for the 2026 Fermi Summer School Workshop, a scientific analysis event sponsored by NASA's Fermi project designed to guide early career researchers in gamma-ray astrophysics and Fermi data utilization techniques. The workshop supports the scientific productivity of NASA's Fermi user community through hands-on instruction with subject matter experts on developing research projects using Fermi data.

The vendor shall provide facility space from May 25 to June 5, 2026, to host the workshop. Required facility amenities include classroom-style meeting rooms accommodating up to 35 participants, breakout meeting spaces for small group activities, wireless internet connectivity, power connections for laptops, audio/visual presentation equipment such as overhead projectors, and white board/black board materials. A critical site requirement is the availability of relatively open, dark spaces for practical field demonstrations involving portable optical and muon telescopes for astronomical observations. The contractor serves as the primary event supporter and is responsible for selecting the location.

Statement of Work

2026 Fermi Summer School Workshop

The Fermi project will contribute to support for an annual scientific analysis workshop, the Fermi Summer School. This event guides early career researchers in using gamma-ray astrophysics data and techniques that support the goals of NASA’s Fermi Mission. The event supports the scientific productivity of NASA’s Fermi user community by allowing hands-on work with experts on developing research projects using the Fermi data. The event is hosted by the contractor, which serves as the primary supporter and selects the location for the event.

The vendor shall provide facility space to support the event from May 25 to June 5, 2026. This should include classroom style meeting rooms to accommodate up to 35 people. The vendor should provide space for additional program activities such as small group work in nearby breakout meeting space. The vendor shall provide wireless internet connectivity for attendees, power connections for laptops, audio/visual presentation equipment (e.g. overhead projector), and white board/black board materials.

Important aspects of the site include space for practical field demonstrations, such as astronomical observing with portable optical and muon telescopes. These astronomy field demonstrations require relatively open, dark sites.
