About this file
This is a Statement of Work (SOW) for NASA's Marshall Space Flight Center (MSFC) requiring the manufacturing of Aheadd CP-1 material testing and characterization specimens using a Nikon SLM Solutions NXG additive manufacturing machine. The primary objective is to evaluate the viability of this platform for cryogenic fluid management (CFM) components and characterize material produced on large-scale laser powder bed fusion machines. The vendor must have prior experience manufacturing Aheadd CP-1 with laser powder bed fusion (L-PBF) technology and shall develop a build layout using best practices in coordination with NASA before manufacturing begins. The vendor is responsible for processing provided build files to achieve the highest feasible resolution, printing labels on all specimens with build and specimen numbers, de-powdering specimens, and removing them from the build plate using wire EDM or bandsaw in the as-built condition.
The specimen matrix comprises 207 total printed parts across multiple categories: 43 tensile specimens (40 vertical, 18 horizontal stacked), 45 high-cycle fatigue (HCF) specimens (30 vertical prepolish, 12 vertical as-built, 18 horizontal stacked), 48 low-cycle fatigue (LCF) specimens, 20 blank cylinders for metallography and thermophysical testing, 8 grouped thin section specimens, 12 laser quality parts, 4 challenge parts (2 lattice boxes with shroud and 2 without), 2 powder cups, 4 cryo coefficient of thermal expansion (CTE) rectangular blocks, and 6 fatigue crack growth blocks. Deliverables include printed specimens per the agreed specimen matrix and documentation on build pedigree, including powder certificates of conformance with material composition and laser assignment parameters. All specimens shall be shipped to Marshall Space Flight Center Central Receiving in Huntsville, Alabama 35812. The period of performance is ten (10) weeks from contract award.

Aheadd CP-1 NXG Specimen Build
Statement of Work (SOW)
The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), specifically Marshall Space Flight Center (MSFC) has a need for manufacturing of Aheadd CP-1 material testing and characterization specimens using a Nikon SLM Solutions NXG additive manufacturing machine to evaluate the viability of using this platform for cryogenic fluid management (CFM) components and to better characterize material produced on large scale laser powder bed fusion machines.
The SOW is as follows:
1. The vendor shall have experience manufacturing Aheadd CP-1 with laser powder bed fusion (L-PBF) additive manufacturing.
2. The vendor shall develop a build layout using vendor’s best practices, the specimen matrix, and build files or geometries provided by NASA, and review with NASA prior to manufacturing.
3. The provided build files shall be processed by the vendor using best practices to ensure the highest resolution feasible for the specimens and that sufficient stock material is added to account for build plate removal.
4. The vendor shall print labels on all specimens notating the build and specimen number.
5. The vendor shall de-powder the specimens and remove from the build plate using wire
EDM or bandsaw in the as-built condition.
6. NASA will provide detailed specimen matrix, specimen files, and discuss as necessary.
