1.0 Background

Procurement of Class 1 Division 2 (C1D2) Operational Intercomm System – Quintron (OIS- Q2) Headsets for use in a Hazardous Environment. SATPC0039883 4200917115 – These headsets were fabricated for special use at Kennedy Space Center by David Clark Company Incorporated. They will replace obsolete headsets that are becoming degraded over 10-20 years of use. They are used by all programs that perform hazardous operations at KSC. The new headsets will replace old headsets as they become non-functioning over the next year. The headsets are made up of three components: the headset piece that can be either single or dual ear, the push-to-talk intrinsically safe (IS) switch case, and the adapter cord that connects to the OIS-Q2 keyset. OIS-Q2 and keysets are existing KSC equipment. The prototype was developed by David Clark Company in conjunction with NSAS KSC and tested by NASA on existing KSC equipment/keysets. The prototype is currently undergoing C1D2 certification by Eurofins E&E North America. Once certification is complete, David Clark can start production of the headsets.

2.0 Requirements
