About this file

This document is a specification sheet for Deionized water system maintenance at NASA Glenn Research Center's Microfabrication Laboratory. The maintenance contract requires comprehensive system upkeep, including quarterly and annual replacement of multiple filter types such as pre-filters, post-filters, activated carbon tanks, and mixed bed deionizer tanks. Additional requirements include annual installation of UV lamps and sleeves, monthly bacteria sampling and reporting, and annual system sanitization.

The specifications are specifically for the Smart Sensing and Electronics System branch, which develops silicon carbide integrated circuits and sensors for aerospace applications. An important stipulation is the requirement for in-house facilities to regenerate mixed bed tanks. The document indicates NASA GRC is soliciting quotes for this maintenance service, with a potential sole source contract to CRH INDUSTRIAL WATER LLC, as noted in the related federal contract opportunity details.

Specifications for Deionized water system maintenance

The Smart Sensing and Electronics System branch at NASA Glenn Research Center (GRC) at Lewis Field focuses on developing silicon carbide (SiC) integrated circuits (ICs) and sensors for aerospace applications. NASA GRC solicits quotes for maintenance of a Deionized water system for the Microfabrication Laboratory that is used to fabricate the ICs and sensors.

The following items are to be covered by the maintenance contract:

•Replace (1) 20” 5-micron (BB) Pre-filter cartridge every three months.

•Replace (5) 20” 5-micron Pre-filters every three months.

•Replace (1) 20” 1-micron Pre-filter every three months.

•Replace (1) 3.6 Cu. Ft. Activated Carbon tank lead/lag once every six months.

•Replace (12) 3.6 Cu. Ft. Mixed bed Deionizer Tanks each year. If exceeded tanks billed as separate.

•Provide and install (8) UV TOC lamp once every year.

•Provide and install (2) UV Gold S UV lamps once every year.

•Provide and install (10) UV Sleeves once every other year.

•Replace (6) 40” 0.2 micron (222)-W/Fin Post-filter cartridge every six months.

•Replace (1) 20” 0.2 micron (222) Post-Filter every six months.

•Replace (1) 20” 0.2 micron (DOE) Post-filter cartridge every six months.

•Take (2) Bacteria samples and report results each month.

•Sanitize system once a year.

An in-house facilities to regenerate the mixed bed tanks is required.
