About this file

This Statement of Work (SOW) details specifications for a 300 kW 3-Phase Power Inverter for NASA's Armstrong Test Facility at Glenn Research Center. The inverter is required for electrified aircraft propulsion research, specifically electric motor control research, and must convert DC power into 3-phase AC power.

Key technical specifications include an 800VDC bus nominal (900V max), 360ARMS output, 80kHz maximum switching frequency, 300uF DC Link Capacitance, liquid-cooled cold plate, CAN Interface, and a specific Wolfspeed model (CRD300DA12E-XM3). The inverter's design is critical for determining power delivery to motors and impacting their operational characteristics within the test facility's research environment.

Statement of Work

300 kW 3-Phase Power Inverter

Description:

The D Site test facility at NASA’s Armstrong Test Facility at Glenn Research Center is a test facility for conducting electrified aircraft propulsion research. One capability of D Site is to perform electric motor control research. Power inverters are required to convert DC power into 3-phase AC power as a supply to each motor. They also determine how that power is fed into the motor which ultimately impacts its operational characteristics.

Specifications:

The primary specifications for the power inverter are:

• 800VDC bus nominal (900V max)

• 360ARMS output

• 80kHz maximum switching frequency

• 300uF DC Link Capacitance

• Liquid cooled cold plate

• CAN Interface

• Wolfspeed, Inc. / CRD300DA12E-XM3
