About this file
This document is a Statement of Work (SOW) for an 800V DC Emulator for NASA's Glenn Research Center, specifically for the Revolutionary Vertical Lift Technology (RVLT) project. The SOW details comprehensive system requirements for a 100kW power supply with bidirectional capability, featuring high-bandwidth performance up to 20kHz, advanced waveform reproduction, and multiple load mode options. Key technical specifications include the ability to inject noise onto the DC bus, provide analog command signals, operate in fast voltage source mode, and support master/slave configurations with series or parallel operation.
The document also outlines vendor resources and expectations, requiring on-site collaboration to ensure safe equipment integration, comprehensive problem analysis support, expertise in testing methods, and assistance with root-cause analysis of potential component failures. The system is designed for power quality testing and power system research, with a specification quote referenced from April 28, 2025, indicating all listed technical requirements have been confirmed as achievable by the proposed vendor.

CLEVELAND, OHIO
800V DC Emulator
Background:
The Revolutionary Vertical Lift Technology (RVLT) project is using DC emulators to perform power quality testing and other power system related research. Most of this testing necessitates a source (in this case a DC emulator) capable of operating at a high bandwidth at the required power levels. The overall requirements for the system are given below.
System Requirements:
Specification System specified in quote from April 28, 2025 100kW power supply with bidirectional capability Yes High bandwidth capability up to 20kHz Yes Ability to inject noise or ripple onto DC bus Yes Ability to reproduce simulated waveforms Yes Available analog input to serve as command signal Yes Multiple load modes including constant power, constant current, constant resistance, or constant voltage
Yes
Fast voltage source mode (>10V/us) Yes Discrete ESTOP output for facility tie in Yes Master/Slave capability with options for either series or parallel operation
Yes
Resources:
• The vender shall work with the project team on-site to understand safe and reliable equipment integration and operation.
• The vendor shall provide on-site and virtual assistance in the analysis of problems.
• The vendor shall work with the project team on-site to understand proper use of the system interface.
• The vendor shall provide expertise in testing methods.
• The vendor shall provide support in root-cause analysis of product/component failures.
