About this file
This Statement of Work outlines requirements for specialized support services for the ACS3 spacecraft's Attitude Determination and Control System (ADCS). The contract focuses on addressing operational challenges, enhancing control optimization, and facilitating integration tasks through spacecraft de-orbiting.
The contractor must provide three main categories of support: 1) Operational support including technical expertise during ADCS meetings and support for KNA bus operations, 2) ADCS analysis and optimization involving control parameter optimization, performance analysis for detumbling and closed-loop pointing with off-nominal sail configurations, stability assessments, and Monte Carlo simulations, and 3) Development and integration of 'blackbox' models for reaction wheel momentum management and magnetic field vector tracking. Work will be performed remotely with periodic coordination at NASA facilities as needed, over a period not exceeding 12 months from contract award. This is identified as a sole source requirement managed by the NASA Shared Services Center.

STATEMENT OF WORK
Support Services for ACS3 Operations
Objective/Requirements The purpose of this contract is to provide specialized support for the Attitude Determination and Control System (ADCS) of the ACS3 spacecraft. The contractor shall address operational challenges, enhance control optimization, and facilitate integration tasks to support the mission through spacecraft de-orbiting.
Characteristics, Scope, and Specifications The contractor shall perform the following tasks:
1. Operational Support:
a. Address technical inquiries and provide expert feedback via email correspondence and during weekly ADCS meetings.
b. Support general KNA(Konisberg NanoAvionics) bus operations to ensure continuity through the spacecraft's de-orbit phase.
2. ADCS Analysis and Optimization:
a. Perform supplemental ADCS analysis and optimize control parameters for ACS3 pointing and detumbling flight modes, including scenarios involving off-nominal sail geometries.
b. Conduct performance analysis of ADCS operations for detumbling and closed-loop pointing with deformed or off-nominal sail configurations.
c. Execute closed-loop linear stability assessments and time-domain Monte Carlo simulations to address potential deviations caused by off-nominal configurations.
d. Utilize NASA-provided estimates for off-nominal sail shapes, inertias, and disturbance forces/moments to inform analyses.
3. Model Development and Integration:
Develop and finalize 'blackbox' models with functionalities for:
a. Reaction wheel momentum management (magnetorquers).
b. Tracking time-varying commands and magnetic field vectors.
c. Support integration of 'blackbox' models into the MSFC (Marshall Space Flight
Center) simulation environment, including:
1) Generating regression and checkout data to validate integration.
2) Providing troubleshooting and debugging assistance for the models as needed.
Place of Performance The contractor shall perform services remotely with periodic coordination at NASA's designated facility, if required.
Period of Performance The period of performance for this task shall begin upon contract award and continue for a duration sufficient to complete all objectives, not exceeding 12 months.
