About this file
This Statement of Work outlines NASA GSFC's requirements for four Zinc Selenide (ZnSe) Dyson lenses needed for Earth science mission instrument development and testing. Two lenses require anti-reflectivity (AR) coating providing <3% reflectance over 4.5-14.1 µm spectral range, while two will remain uncoated. The contract will be awarded to 603 OPTX LLC.
The technical specifications require S1 and S2 surfaces to be polished to 10 Angstrom RMS or better, S5 surface to be progressively ground and polished to remove subsurface damage, and specific fiducial information relative to the S1, S3, and S4 intersections. Delivery requirements specify 12 weeks from contract award for the uncoated lenses and 16 weeks for the AR-coated lenses. All post-delivery work will be performed at GSFC, with no government-furnished equipment provided. The procurement supports risk reduction for future mission proposals and addresses Earth Science decadal survey measurement requirements.

STATEMENT OF WORK FORMAT
Custom ZnSe AR Coated Dyson Lenses for Optical Performance and Environmental Testing; 21-Nov-2024
PR: _____________________
Note: Only use the sections that are applicable to your service procurement.
Background
• A GSFC Earth science mission instrument development requires Zinc Selenide (ZnSe) Dyson lenses to conduct optical performance and environmental testing.
This includes lenses that are uncoated and anti-reflectivity (AR) coated in the 4.5-
14.1 µm spectral range. These optical lenses are being used as part of assemblies for our instrument design and it is very important to be able to conduct timely testing to ensure success and reduce risk with engineering testing activities. We need to procure 4 total ZnSe Dyson lenses both AR coated and uncoated. The maturation activities to continue the work based on a previous 603 OPTX LLC.
ZnSe dyson lens will guide the development of future mission opportunities.
Work done in the lab now will reduce risk for our instrument/mission proposal and work to address needed measurements described by the Earth Science decadal survey.
Scope
• As per specifications, 603 OPTX LLC., shall deliver total quantity 4 ZnSe Dyson Lens with 2 of those lenses AR coated to provide <3% reflectance over 4.5-14.1 µm and 2 left uncoated and will have non-recurrent engineering and shipping cost.
Requirements
• Optical quality of quantity 4 ZnSe Dyson Lens with boss, anti-reflectivity coated on S1 and S2 for 2 of the lenses to provide <3% reflectance over 4.5-14.1 µm.
• As per drawing specifications S1 and S2 are to be polished to 10 Angstrom RMS or better
• S5 surface progressively grind and polished to remove any subsurface damage
• Provide fiducial information as described in the drawing specifications: including origin at the intersection of S1, S3, and S4, the datum z-axis normal to S1, X and Y-axis are in the plane of S1, with Y parallel to one of the long edges.
Deliverables or Delivery Schedule
• Optical quality, ZnSe Dyson lenses uncoated – quantity two. The components shall be delivered 12 weeks or sooner from award of contract.
• Optical quality, ZnSe Dyson lenses with AR coating – quantity two. The components shall be delivered 16 weeks or sooner from award of contract.
Government-Furnished Equipment and Government-Furnished Information
• None
Place of Performance
• All work after delivery will be performed at GSFC.
Period of Performance
• 12 weeks for uncoated lenses and 16 weeks for coated lenses from contract award.
