About this file

This Statement of Work (SOW) covers the bending of tubes for NASA's Propulsion Systems Laboratory (PSL) Stahl heater, which is used to achieve air temperatures up to 1350 degrees Fahrenheit. The current heater cannot reach maximum temperatures due to damaged tubes in the heat exchanger.

The contractor must bend 440 Incoloy 800HT tubes (0.875" OD x 0.095" AW x 240") according to Stahl drawing 32821, with 86 tubes each of five different configurations. The tubes are government furnished materials, along with mill test reports. The work must comply with ASME B31.3 standards, and final inspection will be performed by a NASA-approved inspector before shipping. No Health and Safety Plan is required, though PSO approval has been obtained for pressure vessel work. Non-conforming deliverables will be evaluated by NASA Glenn Research Center for potential "as-is" acceptance or contractor-funded rework. No warranty terms are specified, and this is version 2.0 of the SOW with modified scope.

PSL Stahl Heater Hot Tube Bundle Material Procurement SOW

Background The Propulsion Systems Laboratory (PSL) uses the natural gas fired Stahl heater to achieve air temperatures up to 1350 degrees Fahrenheit. Currently, the Stahl heater is not able to achieve these temperatures at maximum flow conditions due to damaged and repaired tubes in the heat exchanger.

This procurement will cover bending the tubes that have been obtained from a separate procurement.

These bent tubes will then be used by the contractor to repair the Stahl heater in a future procurement.

Quality Assurance Standards (e.g. ISO 9001, AS9100, NFPA, ASME Boiler & Pressure Vessel Code, etc.)

ASME B31.3

Reference Documents (e.g. drawings, NASA procedures, computer files, etc.)

Stahl drawing 32821

Government Furnished Items (items to help perform the work; not the item being worked)

1) Qty: 440 of Tube – Size: .875" OD x .095" AW x 240" Material: Incoloy 800HT Specification:

SB163

2) Mill Test Reports for all material

Unique Considerations

None

Environmental Impacts

None

Health and Safety Plan (HASP) Is a HASP required for this work? No See Chapter 17 of the Glenn Safety Manual

Pressure Vessels and Systems Does this work include pressure vessels and systems? Yes, PSO approval has been given.

Scope of Work Description Bend tubes as shown on Stahl drawing 32821. This SOW is for tube bending only. Bend the following:

1) Qty: 86 of Tube 1 as shown on 32821

2) Qty: 86 of Tube 2 as shown on 32821

3) Qty: 86 of Tube 3 as shown on 32821

4) Qty: 86 of Tube 4 as shown on 32821

5) Qty: 86 of Tube 5 as shown on 32821

Inspections (define all required inspections; subcontractor, TFOME, NASA)

Final inspection of all tubes will be performed by NASA approved inspector before shipping of tubes to

NASA.

Deliverables 440 of bent tubes as described above

Non-Conforming Deliverables Non-Conforming Deliverables will be evaluated by NASA Glenn Research Center for consideration of acceptance “as-is”. Deliverables not meeting the requirements will be corrected at the contractor’s expense. Delivery of corrected deliverables shall be expedited. Actual delivery dates will be negotiated with NASA Glenn Research Center at the time of rework.

Warranty [identify any desired warranty terms and conditions (e.g. hardware, workmanship, etc.)] None
