About this file
This document is a Statement of Work (SOW) for the procurement of two MiniMPL-532-S-HD-WFR lidar instruments from Droplet Measurement Technologies, LLC. The NASA MPLNET project has been using these instruments since 2000 and requires engineering duplicates of the existing equipment. The procurement includes the purchase of the instruments, shipping costs, and delivery of the instruments along with corresponding manuals and calibration data. The work will be performed at the contractor's site, with a delivery date of February 28, 2025. This procurement is a sole-source acquisition by the NASA Shared Services Center, as Droplet Measurement Technologies is the sole provider of the required MiniMPL instruments.

STATEMENT OF WORK FORMAT
Mini Micro Pulse Lidar Procurement
PR: 4200880500
Background
The NASA MPLNET project has been in operation since 2000. The project utilizes specific, commercially available atmospheric lidar instruments now manufactured by Droplet Measurement Technologies. The lidar instruments are the Micro Pulse Lidar (MPL), initially developed and patented at NASA GSFC and now commercially available, and the miniMPL (a smaller version of the MPL developed by the company).
Droplet Measurement Technologies is the unique supplier of the MPL and miniMPL.
Atmospheric lidar instruments sold by other companies are not supported by MPLNET due to technical requirements and/or programmatic considerations that limit our ability to support non-standard instrumentation with constrained budget and staff. The MPL and miniMPL models supported by the NASA MPLNET project include:
• MPL-4B
• MiniMPL-532-S-HD-WFR
This procurement includes the purchase of engineering duplicates of existing equipment.
Here we seek to procure two MiniMPL-532-S-HD-WFR instruments from Droplet Measurement Technologies.
This equipment produces non-ionizing radiation. The new mini MPLs will be used and controlled under our existing MPLNET Laser Safety Plan and corresponding GSFC Forms 23-6L (Docket numbers LR13-031-03 and LR18-060-02) on file with the Radiation Protection Office, Safety Division, Code 360.
