About this file
This document is a Statement of Work (SOW) for a federal contract opportunity focused on printing Nb-Alloys and developing surface enhancement techniques to increase the Technology Readiness Level (TRL) of Additive Manufacturing (AM) for these metals.
The contractor, REM Surface Engineering, shall perform a design-of-experiment (DOE) to test different chemical mixtures and develop post-processing techniques for Nb-alloy. This includes processing 50-150 L-PBF coupons, identifying effective chemical polishing and chemical mechanical polishing formulations, and conducting project reviews with the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) Shared Services Center as needed. The period of performance is expected to be 3 months after the procurement is placed.
This is a sole source requirement for REM Surface Engineering to provide Nb-Alloy surface enhancements. The federal agency involved is the NASA Shared Services Center.

STATEMENT OF WORK
1. Objective/Requirements The MSFC RAAMBO Project is focusing on printing Nb-Alloys that requires Surface Enhancement work ton increase TRL level in AM of these metals. REM Surface Engineering has a unique capability to develop surface enhancement parameters for Nb-Alloys. The company (REM) shall complete a design-of-experiment (DOE) to text different chemistry mixture to develop post-processing technique for a Nb-alloy
2. Characteristics, Scope, and Specs
The contractor shall perform the following duties:
- Processing of 50 – 150x L-PBF Coupons in a chemical screen test based on priority criteria to reduce specimen roughness dependent on material removal rate and chemical stability.
- Identify via statistical approach an effective chemical polishing formulation and an effective chemical mechanical polishing formulation.
- Conduct project review with MSFC, as needed.
3. Place of Performance REM Surface Engineering
4. Period of Performance REM will perform the service after they received development samples from MSFC.
Expected POP is to be 3 motnhs after procurement is placed
