About this file

This document is a Statement of Work (SOW) for the procurement of 4K and 50K cryogenic isolation suspensions, and a telescope receiver lid assembly, to be integrated into a cryogenic testbed at the Goddard Space Flight Center.

The SOW specifies that Precision Cryogenic Systems will provide the required cryogenic components, which must pass an integrated test before integration into the full instrument. The parts are to be delivered within 3 months of order receipt. The related federal contract opportunity is a sole-source procurement under FAR 13.106-1(b)(1)(i), with Precision Cryogenic Systems identified as the sole provider of the required components. NASA's Shared Services Center is the procuring agency, and performance will be at the Goddard Space Flight Center. The procurement will use FAR Part 12 and 13 procedures for commercial items and services. Interested parties may submit capabilities information by June 17, 2024, for the government's consideration of a competitive procurement.

STATEMENT OF WORK

1. Objective/Requirements The EXCLAIM balloon-borne telescope will use cryogenic integrated silicon spectrometers integrated into a superfluid-tight receiver to constrain star formation over cosmic time. The receiver core, comprising the spectrometers, associated optics, and sub-Kelvin coolers, must pass an integrated test in a custom dedicated cryogenic facility before being integrated within the full instrument. The cryogenic isolation suspensions from Precision Cryogenic Systems are critical to the operation of this testbed.

2. Characteristics, Scope, and Specs Precision Cryogenic Systems will provide 4K and 50K cryogenic isolation suspensions, along with an associated receiver lid assembly, comprised of a custom rolled G10 tube bonded to metal flanges, which will be delivered fully assembled and with helical inserts installed as specified by the approved drawings.

3. Place of Performance These parts will be integrated into a cryogenic testbed at Goddard Space Flight Center.

4. Period of Performance Parts will be delivered within 3 months upon receipt of order.
