About this file
This document is a Statement of Work (SOW) for the production of custom fluorinated ethylene propylene (FEP) bags to be used in the BioNutrients-3 experiment aboard the International Space Station (ISS). The SOW specifies the required characteristics and dimensions of the bags, including a 3mil thickness version (9.32" x 5.25") and a 5mil thickness version (8" x 4.75"), both with a single port on the short end containing a swabable port. The bags must be biocompatible, chemically and biologically inert, and DEHP-free. The SOW requires the vendor to provide the bags in the specified quantities (460 3mil bags and 585 5mil bags), along with lot numbers and certificates of conformance. The bags are to be shipped directly to Ames Research Center without any sterilization. The period of performance for bag production is 4-8 weeks from receipt of the purchase order. This SOW is related to a Special Notice for a "Non-sterile Kit, BioLoc™" federal contract opportunity issued by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) Shared Services Center.

STATEMENT OF WORK
1. Objective/Requirements
BioNutrients-3 requires fluorinated ethylene propylene (FEP) bags that are custom made to meet the safety requirements aboard the International Space Station (ISS) as well as the requirements of the science. The specifications of these bags are listed below
2. Characteristics, Scope, and Specs
The contractor shall perform the following duties:
• Produce custom fluorinated ethylene propylene (FEP) bags based on two pre-approved designs, documented in a proprietary drawings (attached), which includes the following specifications:
o The bags must be a single-use system that is biocompatible with the microorganisms for BioNutrients-3 o The 3mil thickness bags (Vendor P/N 90-597) must have the exact dimensions of 9.32” x 5.25” o The 5mil thickness bags (Vendor P/N 90-598) must have the exact dimensions of 8” x 4.75” o The bags must contain a single port on the short end o The above mentioned port must come with an attached swabable port (also known as a needleless injection site), which has been pre-determined and approved by the team o The bags must be open on the opposite short end to facilitate the loading of the microorganisms and media o The bags must be made of materials that are chemically and biologically inert and DEHP (bis(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate) free o The bags must be optically clear to facilitate easy observation of the materials inside o The bag assemblies WILL NOT be sterilized in any way before shipment to
Ames Research Center o Manufacturer shall include the lot number and a certificate of conformance
(CoC) associated with each lot. As coordinated with the vendor, all bags of each type (3mil or 5mil) shall be from the same lot to ensure qualification and verification testing are performed on the same lot of bags used for the flight build.
o Vendor shall provide expedited shipment of the bags. Splitting the order into multiple deliveries is acceptable and desirable for schedule purposes, as long as all bags are from the same lot number as described above.
• Quantity of bags:
o Qty: 460 3mil bags (Vendor P/N 90-597) 92 packs of 5 bags each o Qty: 585 5mil bags (Vendor P/N 90-598) 117 packs of 5 bags each
3. Place of Performance
Instant Systems Inc, Norfolk, VA
4. Period of Performance
Lead time for bags is expected to be 4-8 weeks from receipt of the PO.
