About this file

This document is a Statement of Work (SOW) for a federal contract opportunity to remove trees, chip brush, and leave wood in wooded areas at NASA's Langley Research Center.

The SOW outlines the contractor's responsibilities, which include obtaining a NASA dig permit, verifying elevations and utility locations, safely removing tree stumps, managing soil and debris to prevent environmental impacts, adhering to safety protocols, and providing traffic control measures. The contractor must complete the work within 30 days of receiving the notice to proceed, during business hours on weekdays, and is responsible for any damages incurred. The NASA point of contact will inspect the work and has the authority to halt operations if proper safety measures are not followed. The related federal contract opportunity is a sole-source procurement to SMITH'S TREE CARE, LLC under FAR Part 12 and Part 13 procedures, with a response deadline of April 19, 2024.

Clean Up:

Clean-up procedures shall be completed within 2 hours after debris has been placed around the site of each tree requiring removal. The work site shall be left equal to or cleaner than pre-work conditions. It shall be the responsibility of the Contractor to remove and dispose of off-site in a proper and acceptable manner all logs, brush, and debris resulting from the tree maintenance operations. Badging:

All Contractor employees shall follow proper badging requirements and procedures as identified by the NASA POC prior to and during the period of performance.

Inspections:

The NASA POC shall be notified before 8:30 a.m. on mornings of each working day of exact location of that day’s work. The NASA POC will inspect work at his discretion.
