About this file

This statement of work and related federal contract opportunity describe requirements for a vibratory spiral conveyor system. The statement of work seeks a conveyor able to convey fine granular materials vertically up to 0.91 meters inside an airless vacuum chamber. It must fit inside a 1.47 by 1.47 by 1.18 meter space and operate in air or vacuum. The contractor shall provide design drawings, documentation, and list compatible materials. The period of performance is March 22 to June 28, 2024 at NASA Kennedy Space Center.

The federal contract opportunity is a special notice that NASA/NSSC intends to sole source award to Vibra Screw Inc. for a regolith conveyor. Interested parties may submit capabilities by March 21, 2024 solely for the purpose of determining competitive need. The NAICS code is 332999 and performance will be at NASA Kennedy Space Center.

STATEMENT OF WORK

1. Objective/Requirements The objective of this purchase is to acquire a vibratory spiral conveyor system able to convey fine (dust size) dry granular mineral materials vertically along a spiral surface in both ambient air and inside an airless vacuum chamber which can accommodate a conveyor with a maximum vertical convey height of 0.91-meters (or 36-inches).

2. Characteristics, Scope, and Specs

The contractor shall perform the following tasks:

• Provide NASA Kennedy Space Center with an engineering drawing of a vibratory spiral conveyor system for NASA approval to ensure that the selected system shall fit inside a rectangular chamber whose volume has maximum internal dimensions of 1.47-meter Height x 1.47-meter Width x 1.18-meter Depth (equivalent to 58-inch H x 58-inch W x 46.5-inch D).

• Provide to NASA Kennedy Space Center the selected vibratory spiral conveyor system that shall operate either in ambient air or inside a closed airless vacuum chamber.

• Provide all technical documentation associated with the selected vibratory spiral conveyor system including user manuals and maintenance instructions for the conveyor and its internal electrical components including motors and electrical controller.

• Provide an option to include the possible procurement of up to two additional AC motors as backup replacements for the AC motors installed in the selected vibratory spiral conveyor system.

• Provide a list of the materials contained in the selected vibratory spiral conveyor for NASA to determine their compatibility with operating the conveyor in an airless vacuum chamber.

3. Place of Performance NASA Kennedy Space Center, Florida.

4. Period of Performance The period of performance shall be between March 22, 2024, and June 28, 2024.
