Requirements/Specifications:

• Must be Max Battery Storage Floor Cabinet (CBSC6172) used for safely storing lithium-ion batteries. These cabinets tell users the number of batteries (based on Watt Hours) can be stored per each of the five shelves. Each shelf is designed to handle up to 11.2 kWh. There is a Class D fire extinguishing agent called CellBlockEX that is released in the event of a fire. The toxic smoke from the battery is run through a filter so that it won’t be as toxic. The options of adding power strips and Exhaust Monitoring System (EMS) were looked at but due to space and needs, they are not needed.

• Safe Charge Sleeve E-Series 550 ECR and 800 ECR used for safely charging the batteries.

Each size/amount is required due to the size/amount of batteries currently in use by our branch. If a battery catches on fire during charging process, the vapor filters paired with

Kevlar reinforced blast proof seams help mitigate pressure build-up and explosions.

These sleeves are made of Multi-layered FireShield® composite which is rated to 1823 degrees Fahrenheit.

• Drum Plug KIT for 20-30 Gallon Can or Drum, CellBlockEX 55L Bags, High Watt Hour

EHS Kit, RED (36” x 36” RED High WH FireShield, 12" x 3” x 15” PED-Pad, Pair High Heat

Gloves, Pair Goggles, RED Wall mounted bag) all together helps against the start of a thermal runaway event. When there is swelling or smoke from the battery, we can safely move the bad battery while using the gloves, goggles, and Fireshield to place inside a 20/30 gallon drum. Then place the drum plug in and secure the lid of the drum.

Or help mitigate the amount of damage that could occur by using placing PED-Pad and

Fireshield on top of the battery and wait for the fire department to arrive.
