STATEMENT OF WORK
1. Objective/Requirements
The services to be performed by the LWP Technologies, LLC (LWP) company will support the WFF Education Team in delivering the RockOn, RockSat-C and RockSat-X student launch opportunities conducted at Wallops Flight Facility (WFF) in collaboration with the NASA Sounding Rocket Program Office in FY24. This work requires previous experience in participating and conducting a RockOn workshop for undergraduate students at WFF.
2. Characteristics, Scope, and Specs The contractor shall perform the following duties in the following areas:
A. Provide support to NASA Wallops Flight Facility (WFF) for the RockOn and RockSat- C student launch opportunity which will include the following:
a. Revise and test flight code for the flight computer, Geiger counter, and sensor suite for the RockOn board
b. Perform installation of all surface mount components on the flight computer for
RockOn (~400 components)
c. Support the WFF Team and contractor on 4 RockSat-C teams with design and test reviews with 8 reviews per team (~32 reviews total) and provide a summary and required actions (Conceptual Design Review, Preliminary Design Review, Critical Design Review, Subsystem Test Review, Integrated Systems Test Review, Full Mission Simulation Review, Visual Verification Check-in) with the expectation that 90% of the teams will complete the reviews and finalize their experiments
d. Support WFF Team and contractor on RockSat-C reviews and documentation for NASA Sounding Rocket Program Office
e. Support WFF Team and contractor onsite at WFF for RockSat-C integration and testing in June 2024
f. Hire and pay 6-10 collegiate student helpers who will support the hands-on workshops
g. Provide onsite technical support at WFF during workshop instruction in June 2024 for 20 to 25 teams with 3 to 4 students and faculty member for each RockOn Team
h. Travel support for WFF workshop (item g)
i. Support workshop participants and WFF with data retrieval post launch
B. Provide support to NASA Wallops Flight Facility (WFF) for the Minority Serving
Institution (MSI) Faculty workshop
a. Support planning and conducting the MSI Faculty workshop to be held at WFF for
12 to 15 STEM MSI faculty from across the U.S. in May 2024
b. Travel support for MSI workshop at WFF (item a)
3. Place of Performance
Majority of the work will take place in Aurora, Colorado to develop, test and assemble the experiment Kits for the 20 to 28 RockOn Teams from across the US. Travel to WFF in Virginia in May and June is required for workshops, integration, launch, and recovery.
4. Period of Performance Services provided from October 1, 2023, to September 30, 2024
