About this file
This statement of work outlines requirements for a portable laser scanning system to support inspection needs at NASA Ames Research Center. The laser scanner must be capable of quickly scanning airfoils, fuselages, and large aerospace components in both a metrology lab and field environments. Accuracy requirements include 0.0009" for probing and 0.0025" for volumetric measurements. The system must have a minimum of 15 blue cross hatched lasers capable of scanning up to 1,800,000 measurements per second within a scanning area of 12.2" x 13.8" and depth of field of 9.8 inches to measure parts up to 20 feet. The laser scanner should be compatible with PolyWorks software and inspections using the system will take place between September 1-30, 2023 at the NASA Ames Research Center in Moffett Field, California.

STATEMENT OF WORK
1. Objective/Requirements
Code RM and AO have inspection needs that require a portable laser scanner capable of scanning small to medium size aircraft and portions of aircraft components.
2. Characteristics, Scope, and Specs
The portable laser scanner needs to be capable of quickly scanning airfoils, fuselages, and large aerospace components.
The system must be capable of working in a metrology lab at Ames Research Center as well as be portable to move out onto the shop floor or out in the field or hanger to scan larger aircrafts.
Must be capable of scanning 3D surfaces on a variety of materials, finishes and complexity.
Must also have the ability to pair with a hard probe or ruby tipped probing for more detailed and accurate measurements such as holes, threads or bores.
Accuracy of .0009” and Volumetric accuracy of .0025”. Probing accuracy of .0009”.
Mesh resolution of .0039 inches.
Must have a minimum of 15 blue cross hatched lasers capable of scanning up to 1,800,000 measurements per second.
Minimum scanning area of 12.2” x 13.8”
Standoff distance of 11.8 inches
Depth of field 9.8 inches
Capable of measuring a part size up 20 feet.
Compatibility with PolyWorks software.
3. Place of Performance
NASA Ames Research Center, Moffett Field, CA 94035
