About this file

This statement of work outlines two tasks for a federal contract opportunity with the National Aeronautics and Space Administration Shared Services Center. The vendor will provide development and analysis of Inconel 718 angled laser powder bed fusion samples across 16 machine configurations and build angles from 0 to 45 degrees to determine the impact on mechanical properties. Additionally, the vendor will characterize GRX-810 laser powder bed fusion samples with and without build interruptions to evaluate the effect on mechanical properties and microstructure. The vendor will complete mechanical testing, microstructure evaluation, and fractography analysis. A final report and summary slides will be delivered within twelve months of contract award.

Inconel 718 Angled L-PBF and GRX-810 Interrupted Build Studies

STATEMENT OF WORK

2. Characteristics, Scope, and Specs

The vendor shall provide development and analysis of samples with the following requirements:

Task 1: Evaluation of Inconel 718 L-PBF Angled Wall Samples

The objective of this task is to determine if there is a difference in mechanical properties across 16 different machine configurations in addition to the build angles (0, 30, 45 degrees).

• to complete characterization of Inconel 718 L-PBF AM samples that completed mechanical testing across various wall angles and machine configurations.

• NASA MSFC shall provide all samples.

• to complete characterization and analysis tested Inconel 718 L-PBF samples.

• to complete microstructure evaluation of Inconel 718 L-PBF samples.

• shall evaluate samples post-mechanical testing and complete summary of data in addition to fractography.

• to provide final report (in form of journal article) and summary slides – similar to what has been provided already.

Task 2: Evaluation of GRX-810 Interrupted Build Samples

The objective of this task is to determine if there is an impact to the mechanical properties or microstructure from a machine build interruption.

• to complete characterization of GRX-810 L-PBF AM samples that have been exposed to build interruption (witness lines) as well as pristine samples (no interruption).

• NASA MSFC shall provide all samples for the characterization and testing.

• NASA MSFC shall provide samples in the as-built and also HIP heat treated condition.

• to complete characterization of GRX-810 samples in the as-built condition to understand the potential impact of the build interruption.

• shall develop a test matrix to complete mechanical tensile and fatigue testing of the samples with the build interruption (witness line) in the gage section.

• shall coordinate with MSFC to complete mechanical testing at a test laboratory.

• shall evaluate samples post-mechanical testing and complete summary of data in addition to fractography.

• to provide final report (in form of journal article) and summary slides – similar to what has been provided already.

3. Place of Performance

4. Period of Performance

The tasks shall be conducted over the course of twelve months, with the duration beginning upon initiation of contract award.
