About this file

This document outlines a statement of work for a laser system procurement. NASA Goddard Space Flight Center seeks to procure a CrystalLaser Model QL266-050 266nm Compact Q-Switched DPSS Laser optimized for 1 kHz repetition rate, 10-20 ns pulse width, and 15 μJ output power for use as an excitation source in Raman spectroscopy. The laser system must be delivered as a turnkey, standalone system and meet specified technical requirements including a 266nm output wavelength, 15 μJ or higher pulse energy at 1 kHz repetition rate and 10-20 ns pulse width, and pulse jitter of less than 3 ns. The system is required to contain an integrated laser driver control unit and power supply optimized for the stated performance parameters.

CrystaLaser Statement of Work

1.0 Background

NASA Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC) was awarded two three grants by the NASA ROSES PICASSO program to develop solar (visible) blind, radiation hard, low dark current, deep-UV detectors. These devices require testing and performance validation with realistic instrument configurations. Our Raman spectroscopy application requires a 266 nm deep-UV laser with 1 kHz repetition rate, 10-20 ns pulse width, and 15 µJ output power. This spectral range limits the vendors able to provide pulse laser units. The capabilities of the specified device match research requirements and will enable us to complete the characterization in a timely manner commensurate with the program schedule.

2.0 Scope of Work

CrystaLaser shall deliver a model QL266-050 266nm Compact Q-Switched DPSS Laser with driver and power supply optimized at 1 kHz rep rate, 10-20 ns pulse width, and 15 µJ output power.

The system shall be a standalone, turnkey system ready for integration as a Raman spectroscopy excitation source.

3.0 Requirements

General The laser shall be delivered with all operational subsystems for standalone laser excitation functionality.

Technical The Model QL262-050 Compact Q-Switched DPSS laser source shall have a 266 nm output wavelength.

The device output energy shall be 15 µJ or higher at a 1 kHz repetition rate and 10-20 ns pulse width. Pulse jitter better than ±3 ns.

The device shall contain the laser driver control unit and power supply optimized for above repetition rate, power, and pulse width.

The laser shall be single mode, TEM00, M2<1.3 Output beam shall be diffraction limited with full-angle divergence of <4 mrad.

4.0 Deliverables and Schedule

The laser system shall be delivered within 10 weeks of ARO.
