About this file
This statement of work outlines testing support services required for cryogenic testing of superconducting devices. The contractor will operate laboratory cryogenic testing equipment to characterize Transition Edge Sensors (TES) and Superconducting Quantum Interference Devices (SQUIDs) provided by the National Institute of Standards and Technology and Goddard Detector Development Lab. The contractor will integrate TES detectors into packages with supporting cryogenic cabling and collect data using the University of British Columbia Microwave Cryogenic Experiment (UBC MCE). Additionally, the contractor will integrate microwave coaxial cables into cryostats and design additional components needed to readout the NIST uMUX system with room temperature electronics. The contractor will generate Solidworks CAD designs to fabricate detector housings and provide proper magnetic shielding. Electrical and PCB designs will also be completed to connect readout electronics to room temperature data collection systems. The contractor will deliver testing reports. Performance of the testing services will take place from July 15, 2023 through July 15, 2024 at the NASA Goddard Space Flight Center.

STATEMENT OF WORK
1. Objective/Requirements
2. Testing support: Operate laboratory cryogenic testing equipment to screen parts delivered from both the National Institute of Standards NIST and the Goddard Detector
Development Lab DDL. These will include Superconducting Quantum Interference
Devices SQUIDs and Transition Edge Sensors TESs. Characterize TES devices using
SQUID electronics to determine transition temperatures, thermal conductivity and TES saturation power. Integrate TES detectors into packages and build supporting cryogenic cabling to collect data using the UBC MCE. Integrate microwave coax into cryostat and additional components needed to readout NIST uMUX with room temperature electronics.
3. Mechanical Design: Solidworks CAD designs will be generated to fabricate the necessary detector housing to test parts and magnetically shield the detectors from fluctuating non-induced fields. Mechanical design will include proper shielding for higher temperature radiation. Designs will be for both TDM and uMUX SQUID readout systems.
4. Electrical Design: Mask sets will need to be generated for the fanout board to connect the hybridized array to the SQUID readout electronics. PCB designs will need to be completed to connect the Si fanout/SQUID electronics to the room temperature electronics where data collection takes place.
5. Deliver testing reports.
6. Characteristics, Scope, and Specs
Deliverables will be reviewed as project proceeds.
7. Place of Performance
NASA/GSFC
8. Period of Performance
Testing shall be performed July 15, 2023 through July 15. 2024.
