Statement of Work – Rev A For Passive Aerosol Samplers in the Aerosol Monitors Payload
NASA Glenn Research Center, Cleveland, OH 12‐20‐2022
Background Aerosol Samplers is a flight experiment performed in 2016 and 2018, which utilized samplers manufactured by RJ Lee Group. The samplers from those experiments will augment other aerosol instruments in a new flight experiment, Aerosol Monitors. Therefore, the NASA‐owned Passive Samplers will be refurbished, filters will be selected and prepared for the flight aerosol instruments, and support services will be provided while the hardware is prepared for flight.
Summary of Services
1) Refurbish Passive Aerosol Samplers (PAS): Ten (10) out of 12 NASA‐owned PAS will be prepared for loading with sampling media (carbon tape and other selected substrate materials on aluminum blocks). Price includes cleaning of samplers; fabrication of aluminum block sampling substrates; preparation of the aluminum blocks with sampling media (carbon tape and other TBD surface materials); and installing the sampling blocks in the PAS units. Any unique NASA‐specific substrate materials that are required will be provided at the expense of the Life Support Systems program.
2) Selection, study design, purchase, and weighing of 25 specialized filters for use in a TBD gravimetric monitor instrument accompanying the passive aerosol samplers in the payload.
3) Documentation and Engineering Support: Any required paperwork and support related to qualification of the samplers and filters for the ISS experiment will be provided during the payload integration period.
Oversight of Task Progress on hardware tasks will be communicated with NASA Principal Investigator on a monthly basis.
Period of Performance The above tasks shall take place in the period from the start date through the end date of the contract. No‐cost extensions due to supply chain delays or launch delays will be available if necessary.
Deliverables The hardware deliverables will consist of ten (10) flight‐ready NASA‐owned passive samplers and filters for the Mini Aerosol Monitors. Service deliverables will consist of electronic information as needed for payload integration of the RJ Lee Group‐provided hardware.
