About this file

This document is a Justification for Limiting Competition under the Simplified Acquisition Threshold (SAT) for a Det-Tronics Fire Detection X5200GA4N1312 UV/IR flame detector. The U.S. Army Contracting Command - Rock Island is seeking to purchase 6 units through a Fixed Price Purchase Order (W4W9M51320G) funded by Operations & Maintenance, Army for Fiscal Year 2025. The justification highlights the unique capabilities of the Det-Tronics flame detector, which features proprietary technology with a dual-spectrum UV/IR sensor, advanced signal processing algorithms, and factory-calibrated design specifically engineered for hazardous environments like MCAAP (McAlester Army Ammunition Plant). The document explains that no other product is compatible without significant redesign and added cost, and provides detailed market research and pricing analysis to support a sole-source procurement under FAR 13.106-1(b)(1), with the action being a brand name restriction that will be posted with the solicitation.

TB Reason for authority: The Det-Tronics Fire Detection X5200GA4N13T2 UV/IR flame detectors possesses proprietary technology and design features that

are exclusive to Det-Tronics. This model integrates a dual-spectrum UV/IR sensor with advanced signal processing algorithms, enabling rapid flame detection while minimizing false alarms. It is specifically engineered and factory-calibrated to meet stringent industry standards for hazardous environments, making it uniquely suited for high-risk applications such as explosive operations at MCAAP. It features unique, factory calibrated UV/IR technology and integrates directly with existing Det-Tronics fire and gas safety systems found on MCAAP currently. No other product is compatible without significant redesign and added cost. Using alternatives would compromise integrity and risky safety standards.
