System for Award Management

The System for Award Management (SAM) combines federal procurement systems and the Catalog of Federal Domestic Assistance into one new system. This consolidation is being done in phases. The first phase of SAM includes the functionality from the following systems:

Central Contractor Registry (CCR) Federal Agency Registration (Fedreg) Online Representations and Certifications Application Excluded Parties List System (EPLS)

Per 2 CFR §25.100, the System for Award Management is the repository for standard information about applicants and recipients. Unless an entity is exempted from this requirement, the entity must maintain the currency of their information in the SAM until they submit the final financial report required under an award or receive the final payment, whichever is later. This requires that the entity review and update the information at least annually after the initial registration, and more frequently if required by changes in their information or another award term.
